OBSCURAE MAGAZINE “Awakening”

Despite her young age and small appearance there was some heaviness about her. She sounded too wise and had witty sense of humor. She had an old soul. Shooting with her was like stepping inside her world. With every click she was becoming more alive. She was awakened. One look in the mirror motivated her to take an action and chase after her beautiful dreams.

After doing a research I decided to go with Obscurae Magazine because of their Creature Couture theme. As soon as I found a suitable location, a chic penthouse apartment in Chelsea, I started to oragize a team by finding the right designers. I love Lisa Jane millinery work and she has very helpful by sending me generous amount of samples of her work the following week. Avant Garde designer Tatiana Smirnova was very cooperative also and wanted to deliver pieces herself few days before the shoot. This was helpful as allowed me to research new poses, envisage model Jasmin Holt in every pose and put together a brief.

I created a mood board where I communicated the feel and mood of the shoot with a model, makeup artist and hair stylist. I expressed an exact look I aim to go for. They excelled my expectations. In the morning of the shoot I prepared a set and set up appropriate lighting. Model appreciated my clear and concise directions on set which she execute well. Throughout the shoot I produced good quality and consistently beautiful images, ensuring they are exposed and color correct. After the shoot I discussed when and how I make images accessible with team members.
Shortly after selecting images I used Capture One for color correction. I retouched 30 images in 2 days. I cropped them to magazine specifications and send the images before the deadline has passed for this publication.

Tanzanian Beauty

When I met Adele on one of the shoots in Mayfair I liked her instantly. I was immensely impressed with her friendly and creative personality. Hence I decided to take a chance and invited her to one of my shoots happening the same week. As I later discovered she also is a photographer. It explains it all.

Even though the shot looks nothing like it, this particular look was inspired by Grace Jones’ album cover “ISLAND LIFE”. I asked make-up artist Aga Malinowska to create the similar colour pallet makeup. It worked out perfectly. The neckless was brought by my stylist of the day Graciela Martin. The hair was touched by a talented hair stylist Franco Sfetas. The shoot was fun and I’m very please with the results.

Adele also brought some beautifully printed fabrics. We discussed this prior to the day. I wanted to create an ethnic look.

Adele skilfully wrapped the turban by mixing two fabrics. We added some jewellery, a touch of yellow make up on her eyebrow and black lipstick to finish the look. This worked the magic. Adele is also wearing cooler tone pink tanzanian wooden earrings. Absolutely adorable…

The image looks really nice in black and white as well.
